Her art is concerned with the human aspects of a mind striving to achieve nirvana: nirvana is only the distant goal at the end of the journey, but the struggle that occurs within the mind makes up the majority of that long journey. Buddha once said that ‘Nobody is free from the anguish of life’, and he greatly emphasised the value of meditation in releasing this anguish. While white represents the clearness of mind needed to reach nirvana, and she uses a wide palette of colours, mixing it with the white, to represent the chaotic mix of feelings that interrupt a person when they are trying to find peace of mind.
